Sun - 17/17

The computer ran all night again and this morning I could actually sign on.

I was able to then download a program from Microsoft which I had to use a number of times to remove programs that I believed were causing the problem. They were all Apple related due to the failure of iTunes to install properly.

I then had to install a number of previous Microsoft program variations (of the same program) dating back to 2005.

Success! (At least for now?) After several more hours I was able to get the pictures from my iPhone to the computer - then to the blog.

Then I was able to do yesterday's (Saturday) blog with pictures from the iPhone and post it.

While I did that, Charlotte washed the floors and made "hamburg patties" using her newly acquired "Patty Press". The "Press" was part of her booty purchased at Liz's "Girl's Night" a few weeks back. The night included demos from "Pampered Chef", as well has Handbag and a Makeup demo sessions.

I offered Charlotte a trip to a "Flea Market" (Rettinger's or  Marion); however we decided to just relax for the afternoon because it was "too hot". The temps are 10 F warmer than yesterday and may touch or just go above 80 F later this afternoon. It will definitely be mid-80's by Tuesday, Our blood still hasn't "thinned out" yet.

Charlotte made a great salad for lunch using a medley of various lettuce w/spinach, nuts, mushrooms, boiled eggs and Amish "Swiss" cheese chunks. I can't believe I like healthy! (Don't look at the salad dressing).

There is still a week of work left to do to get the RV under control; however we will "Pace" ourselves. I don't have the heart to try to install the last 50 or so programs on the computer to bring it back to "normal". Three straight days of frustrations are enough for now. Maybe I will be able to finish tomorrow?

Later in the afternoon we had planned to head Lake Sumter Landing's "Market Square" for a little bit of  R and B and Rock and Roll. Tonight "Chicago to Memphis - Christmas Road Trip" was the featured act.

Each of the 3 "Town Square(s)" in "The Villages" feature live music (usually 5-9) every night of the year.

The "Town Squares", Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing and Brownwood were developed in that order. They are the commercial "hubs" of each of these areas and are open to the public. The Villages. "The Neighbourhoods" (residential areas) are for "Residents (Family and Guests) Only!"

The Villages is a  CDP (Census-Designated Place) in Sumter County, FL. It shares its name with a broader master planned, age -restricted community development that spreads into portions of Lake and Marion counties. It was in the Forbes "25 Best Places to Retire in the United States" for the past 2 years. It is also consistently among the fastest growing U.S. cities (often ranked 1st) and now numbers 160,000 residents. That is an increase of over 100,000 since 2010.

The centerpiece of The Villages is its numerous assortment of golf courses. 12 courses are country club championship courses designed by notable course architects including Arnold Palmer and Nancy Lopez. The ability to play "Free Golf for Life" is a key component of The Villages advertising campaigns (though technically the statement is inaccurate as the costs are covered by the mandatory monthly amenity fees assessed on each residential lot). The Villages can play "free golf for life" (i.e., no greens fees) and can walk the courses for free as well; fees are charged for riding a golf cart on the courses (gotcha). The Villages operates 48 courses.

(N.B. A later blog will be dedicated to the Golf Car(t). It will explain why they are Golf Cars not Carts!)

Likewise, there are almost 60 recreational centers. All (except 1) contain swimming pools, several of which are for residents (meaning Adult Only) while other pools (about 1 in 3) are "Family". There are also 11 areas designated as parks, dog parks or fitness trails.

Entertainment, other than outside in the Town Squares, is provided in a few indoor venues. The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center, a theatre with over 1,000 seats, features the "Higher End Acts" (w/Prices to match). We have seen several acts there; however, we most often go to the Savannah Center for shows (Art, Music, Craft, Quilts, etc). A few other centers have smaller and more local events. The Villages also operates numerous softball fields and a polo stadium, as well as a woodworking shop, and a "Lifelong Learning College".

Again, we decided to continue to rest instead of heading for the show. It was TV through the remainderof the evening. The computer took over an hour just to restart. There is still something wrong. Perhaps something is stuck and it is caught in a loop. Maybe a virus scanner is scanning the whole disk drive beforeallowing the computer to start???
When I finally got it back I was able to publish the blog to end the day.
