Wednesday - 9 Dec/15

The POP for rain today is 80% in the morning; 90% in the afternoon and 30% this evening; yet so far the sky is only partly cloudy with sunny breaks. Weather forecasting is a big news item down here. TV stations, using doppler radar, track and predict rain or severe weather right down to the residential area by the minute. When they predict a rain cloud passing through Umatilla they are usually correct almost to the minute. Although the chance of rain is high, spotty showers means it will be of short duration, if at all. They are almost as accurate as our Weather Rock. (grin)

A typical morning with walkers, joggers, a few bicycles (2 and 3 wheeled)  passing by. Neighbours are up early watering plants; however, I have not heard any leaf blowers yet. Often they can be heard as folks blow the continuously falling oak leaves off their patios.

A contractor has been doing work for the past few days on the Park Model across the street. Sometimes owners have work done by local contractors in preparation for their arrival.  This is a different unit than last year. Perhaps it has moved from another location in the park. Someday we will have new neighbours. (Picture taken through the privacy screen)

Jean, two lots down the street, left a half hour ago for the craft hall. She is really an "Early Bird" (literally - Bird is her last name - grin). Charlotte decided to sew in the RV today. We are both still quite tired from being  continuously busy the last few days.

I did a little organizing and cleaning up after my construction project.

First up - the snow family has a new location. on the steering wheel table.

Next was stuffing a USPS Priority Mail Envelope with a few craft items for our girls back home. We will make a quick trip to the Altoona, FL Post Office (it's closer than the Umatilla P.O. ) to mail it so it gets home before Christmas. We went yesterday on the way to The Villages. We were a few minutes late. It closed at 4:30 p.m.

Charlotte joined a pile of pieces to make a quilt-like panel which can be used in an upcoming project.

Lunch was Charlotte's "Diana Sauce Meatballs w/rice".(one of my favourites!) She made it while I placed snack items in the new Pull-Out Pantry. I used small storage baskets to hold the popcorn and peanut bags (on another shelf) that would otherwise fall through the wire-grid shelving.

Toot! Toot! (I'm blowing m,y own horn - grin) I am quite pleased (and proud) of my "MacGyvered" pantry. Before we departed I priced a pre-made unit ($1400.00).

A little work saved over $1000.

Doing it myself - Priceless!

We finally mailed our package. The Altoona Post Office is similar to ours back home. It serves a rural population with boxes available for the residents at all times and counter service available during regular business hours during the week. Like our P.O. the service was friendly and excellent.

Charlotte chose to use Snoopy themed stamps (numerous required). The postal agent even help place them on the envelope. The $30 (Can) cost for mailing the package is comparable to UPS; however UPS doesn't have neat stamps for children to collect..

We then went shopping for a few odds and ends at our usual Publix. No luck on our Powerball ticket. We bought another. Can't win without one.

Brought "Mabel" in to the RV to check for updates. There was a major one as well as the latest construction site data. Still pleased with it's performance. Operations that sometimes took from 1 to 3 minutes to complete are now finished in a few seconds. I think, being one of the first few made, that it always had a problem.

I noted on the way back to the park that despite being cloudy with a high POP the multitude of tiny showers missed us all day long. We seem to be in an area in which most of the bad weather goes just north or just south of our location. OK by me.

Resting (more or less) today was good for both of us.

It will just be a regular "Jeopardy", etc. evening.
