Tue - Jan 31/12

After breakfast we went to the Mulqueen Sewing Center in Mesa, AZ. We talked to the owner, Pat, at the Phoenix Quilt and Sewing show last Saturday when we bought some accessories for Charlotte's new Brother Sewing Machine (w/quilting extension). We were quite impressed with their offerings and decided to bring her Kenmore Sewing Machine in for repairs. Charlotte purchased some plastic bobbins and spray starch while we were there.

Next stop was Fuddrucker's for lunch. Fudd's has always been a favourite for burgers whether in Texas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Arizona or anyplace we find one. The burgers (cheese 7 bacon optional) are cooked to order (1/3, 1/2. 2/3 or 1 lb fresh ground meat) with freshed backed buns. You then add your own toppings from a fresh produce bar and a condiment bar that also includes warm cheese/jalapena cheese. The soda (bottomless) bar has a wide variety including a few diet types (Right!) Fudd's was well worth the visit.

We continued along Southern Ave back towards Gold Canyon rather than get on the big road (US-60). Most of the distance is 6 lanes @ 45 mph. They are a little smarter here - the timed lights get you through with few stops if you go the speed limit.

Back at Gold Canyon we went to Basha's, in the plaza right across from the park, for groceries. In the USA grocery stores have their own membership cards (no charge). They offer many specials for card holders at a great savings. We saved between 20% and 25% on our purchases - wow - $0.99 for a gallon of milk - bread for $1.00.

That was it for today. Stored the groceries then had a snack for supper while we watched TV. CBS has our attention on Tuesday's with both NCIS.
