Sun - 15 Mar/15

Wow! - we slept in until 9:30 a.m. Yesterday's busy day and heat caught up with us.

Clear blue skies with the occasional small white cloud. Predictions for the next week show no rain and temps, like today, in the mid to high 80's F. Less humidity will make it much more pleasurable.

The usual CBS Sunday Morning on TV while we had breakfast. Charlotte ground a fresh batch of coffee beans. I don't drink coffee; however, I love the odour of "fresh ground".

Charlotte walked over to Marina's motorhome around noon to continue their conversation about Monday's craft requirements. Charlotte also picked up a piece of fabric needed for Monday morning's craft session.

On our way out of the park we had a delay. We had to wait for three Blue Herons to cross the road. It took a few minutes; however, it was a delight to watch their graceful "slow motion" gait as the made their way to the lakefront.

We then headed back to Renninger's Market in Mt. Dora to return the metal sign that I bought yesterday. Back at the RV I found I already had that one stored away to bring back home. I exchanged it for a "Rosie's Diner" sign.

The iPhone shows all the photos together. I am going to have to figure out a way to tell the difference between those I have and those I need. There must be "an app for that" (grin).

Our next stop was at JO-ANN in Tavares. Charlotte required a few more items for tomorrow's art project. I always go on-line to check for J)-ANN discount coupons and print out any that may apply. Charlotte was able to use tw0 for discounts on her purchases.

Ironically, all of our stops today would be on US-441 which we usually try to avoid. Today, being it was Sunday, it was not the usual 6 lanes of chaos. Continuing down the road (only a few miles) we made our next stop for brunch at Ichiban Buffet in Leesburg. (Do oriental restaurants do Brunch?)

This Chinese/Japanese buffet is huge! They feature 150 items daily which also include Sushi and a Hibachi Grill. The selection was all top quality and the price was ridiculously reasonable. (Under $20)

With little chance of rain in the weather forecast for the next week I decided to stop at a car wash and give the Del Sol "a bath".

It seems our agenda for today consisted of driving for about 5 miles along US-441 then make a stop. Stop # 5 along US-441 was at the Rialto Theatre in Spanish Springs (The Villages). The 4:30 p.m. showing of "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was about 75% full (of seniors). Not surprising as The Villages population consists of 110,000 in their numerous "55 +" gated communities.

The Square was packed, as usual, with more than half the parking spaces taken up by Gold Cars (please don't call them carts or they will be offended). Some models look like miniature '57 Chevys or '55 T-Birds and cost more than a car. Prices are often North of $20,000 for the more exclusive models. The most expensive available is over $52,000; however, "low end" models can be had for starting around $12,000. (All in US $)

There are over 90 miles of dedicated Golf Cart Roads in The Villages with overpasses (over the 6 lanes of US-27/US-441), underpasses and dedicated bridge lanes. Most folks here have a "Golf Car" as their second vehicle and use it for most daily commutes.

After the movie we continued along US-27/US-441. A short stop at Walmart was unsuccessful. They did not have what I wanted (although the item is available on-line).

We finally got off the 6 lanes, turning on CR-42. It was still warm enough to cruise with the top off. Love DST - the extra hour of daylight meant we arrived back at the RV just as the sun set.

The evening was occupied with channel surfing. It is PBS "Beg-a-Thon" time once again. This meant by alternating through the PBS channels we were able to enjoy an evening of oldies with Peter, Paul and Mary as well as several Rock, Pop and Doo-Wop stars.

This was another busy day!
