Fri - 13 Mar/15

Friday the 13th - also known as Black Friday, is considered an unlucky day in Western cultures. The superstition surrounding this day may have arisen in the Middle Ages. Originating from the story of Jesus' Last Supper and Crucifixion by taking into account the fact there were 13 present at the Last Supper and Jesus' death was on the next day (Good Friday). The superstition only became widespread in the 20th century. The fear of the number 13's scientific name: "Triskaidekaphobia"  was a staple joke for Johnny Carson (reference for old-timers only! - grin)

Today will still be in the mid-80's; however despite being overcast with sunny breaks the chances of showers during the day will be low. Great day to take the top off on the Del Sol. We decided to go to Chili's for lunch in Lady Lake. The GPS takes the main roads; but we take a few shortcuts instead. Not only do our variations save about 5 miles, it is also on nice roads with less traffic.

At Chili's Charlotte had the South West Chicken Soup and I had the Texas Cheese Fries w/bacon. We shared the deep fried pickles. All was yummy.

We were then headed for Camping World; however, we made a detour to the Walmart on the way. We were going in to get two items we forgot to pick up at Publix yesterday. Shower cleaner and salad dressing were all we went in for; however, we came out with a full cart. Funny how you always find things you didn't know you needed.

Ooops! Another short detour. As we were leaving Walmart I spotted a Sally (Beauty Supplies) Store. We made a quick stop to pick up 4 of our favourite combs. We keep misplacing the ones we have.

Our next stop was Camping World just a little but up the road. I had a $25 gift certificate for renewing my Good Sam Club Card. We picked up 2 spray bottles of toilet cleaner (special for RV's) and a package of Sewage Treatment pods. Total cost after applying the certificate - $1.31. I was going to get a loan application form; but decided it wasn't worth the paperwork required (grin).

Again, a few shortcuts later to avoid the extremely busy 6 lanes of traffic on US-27, we headed up through Sunset Harbor to CR-42 to CR-450 which brought us back to SR-19 and the to Olde Mill Stream RV Resort. Bonus: CR-450 had been repaved since we were here last year. Last year it was really rough - now it is a great ride.

Oh! Oh! - another detour. Actually, it was just across the road from the RV Park. The heat of the day triggered a need for Ice Cream. We were going to stop at either of the two Ice Cream Shops (that we know of ) in Umatilla then we changed our mind and decided to pick up a container of Ice Cream at the grocery store. This was so we could add our fresh strawberries, peanuts and the Sanders Chocolate Topping and make it a "Friday" A "Friday" is today's version of a sundae (grin). It sure was a treat!

Later we put away all our purchases. That task only took half an hour. It's a good thing we only needed to shop for 2 items. We then rested until it was time for Jeopardy. You guessed it - another TV evening.

Bonus: it came with popcorn w/real butter!

That was it for another busy day,
