Sun - 2 Mar/14

Taking it easy today. We are resting up and preparing for our quick trip home. Tentative departure is this Tuesday (real early if it is not foggy).

We watched hockey (Philadelphia Flyers vs Washington Flyers) in the afternoon.

It was a good game with the Flyers always coming from behind to finally win in overtime. (Lecalvalier at 02:45 of OT) . (Flyers 5 - Washington 4).

Charlotte made here World Famous Egg Salad Sandwiches (yummy) for lunch. Hint: Micro the mixture when made - warm is tastier - then make sandwiches.

I spent time adding DeLand, FL area items to my database. There are things we will be doing there when we return. It is about a half-hour drive away which will give us time to enjoy the great weather with the top off in the Del Sol.

After hockey it was NASCAR from Phoenix, (actually Avondale) AZ.

Kevin Harvick won racing Dale Earnhardt Jr. to the finish line. Harvick earned his first win for Stewart Haas Racing, and also locked himself into the Chase.

Triggered a little "missing that" moment. We have gone to the "Valley of the Sun" for the last several winters. Miss it. The reason we switched to Florida is the 75 day "Out-of-Country" medical insurance coverage. That is why we will be returning home on Tuesday. A 24 hr. stay and we get another 75 days of coverage (no charge). The return trip from AZ would use up too many days.

The 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic (played in outside venues) is being played today.

This marks the second and final game between the Ottawa Senators and the Vancouver Canucks this season.

For these two teams on the outside of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the two points at stake Sunday will take priority.

Of course, with home being less than an hour from Ottawa and the fact that our daughters were babysitters for a former Ottawa Senator Player - you know who we will cheer for tonight. Not enough Wi-Fi bandwidth to watch the game on NBCSN - it also wouldn't be fair to other Wi-Fi users to try as it slows everyone down.
I was able to listen to the end of the game on Streaming Radio from Vancouver. Like the Flyers, Ottawa had a come from behind win with no OT required. (Ottawa 4 - Vancouver 2)

During the Race I printed out our route home. Our trip will include 1 night at the Super 8 in Salem, VA. We stayed there last year and it was perfect for our needs. I also printed out the Interstate Weather forecasts for the trip. We will try to make it home (and back) between storms.

Tomorrow we will be making the final preparations for an early departure for our trip home. The blog may not be updated until we return (depends on Wi-Fi availability on the road).

Finished the evening with the "Oscars" (Between TV surfing). The "Best Pictures" race is the closest in years.

It was good to rest today.
