Fri., 1 Feb 13

Wow! Another cold night - low 40's F when we woke. A beautiful, clear blue sky; but cool with today's high only reaching the mid-50's F.

Our decision was to take it easy until it warmed up after lunch before going out. We arrived at 2 p.m. (they close at 3 p.m.) and a few vendors were already closing. This was a flea market more along the line of the Mesa Swap Meet in Mesa, AZ having most of the market indoors. There were a large variety of items on display - from soup to nuts (literally).

Could this booth also be classified as nuts? The outdoor vendors had more traditional flea market items (junk).

Wow! A 3 year old golf cart like the fancy ones we saw zipping around "The Villages" the other day costs ($17,900) more than a new economy car - and that was on sale!

Again, as usual, we found a few items we didn't know we needed with most of our purchases being fruit from the farmers market aisle.

Having a late breakfast meant we were now just getting hungry for linner. (I tried: If breakfast/lunch = brunch doesn't lunch/dinner = linner?). Spotting a restaurant while driving in 3 lanes of traffic is difficult with no easily visible signs along the way. We used the GPS to list the facilities that were close by. Our destination was Chili's.

Linner was the 2 for $20 deal. Many restaurants are now offering a 2 for $20 deal giving a choice of an appetiizer and two (selected) entrees for that price. Our appetizer was a half portion of Texas Cheese Fries. As usual, we forgot to say: "No Jalapenos" and ended up picking them off the top. The entrees were a Chicken Fajita (Charlotte) and a Bacon Cheeseburger (moi). They meal was excellent; however,we each had to take half home. Congrats to Chili's for providing a bag already packed inside the "take home" container. This made it easier to carry out.

Next, we stopped at the Sam's Club, a short distance down the road from Chili's. Luckily, we knew were it was having been there previously (after driving by and having to turn around). Even knowing where to look we still almost drove by again.

Again, we found a few things we didn't know we needed. Ironically, they were all out of the surgical type gloves (large) which was the reason we stopped.  These are better than work gloves when working around the car or RV. They keep the hands free from grime yet still allow good finger dexterity. Hopefully, they will be in stock next time we come.

At the cash they asked if I had a Sam's Club credit card. When I said that I did not they offered $20 off my purchase if I would apply (successfully). I then said that I did not think I could as I was from Canada. The cashier went to check and returned with the duty manager. He said that it is more difficult; but, it may be possible to get approval.

I did. They did. I now have a Sam's Club Personal Credit Card.

I can now use it at Sam's Club and their gas bars. It can also be used at Walmart; but, not their gas bars. This will be beneficial at Sam's Club as they do not accept VISA charge cards (VISA debit is OK). It will also be quicker at Sam's Club gas bars as they are only for members and do not accept cash. Now I can fill up by swiping just one card.

Although we were comfortable driving with the top off earlier in the afternoon it was now starting to cool off quickly as the sun was setting. We headed back to the RV park with the top on. Again, the GPS changed the screen to the night view automatically at dusk. I am starting to get familiar with the unit although I still have a lot to remember to use it quickly. I'm working on it.

It was dark when we arrived back at the RV. We unpacked and then settled in to watch night time TV. We will need the heat on as it will drop to the high 30's  tonight.
