Sat - Mar 3/12

Canyon Vistas was invaded today by Motorcycles this morning. Bikes came in for a 9 am rally meeting with a departure around 9:30 am. It took nearly a half hour for them all to exit in waves of  8 to 10 per group. Must be a spacing thing required for highway travel.

Most of the bikes were single riders and most of the trikes were couples. There were almost 100 bikes with probably about 120 riders total. The last bike left a few minutes after 10 am.

The steady high winds yesterday have diminished today. It is the first time in a week that the huge flag at the park entance is hanging limp rather than fully extended in the wind. The cold front that came in with the wind has passed. Temps will be in the mid-80's F by tomorrow.

A surprise this morning. While reading the Motorhome magazine I purchased yesterday at Camping World I discovered my submission"Dinghy Wheel Alignment Checker" had been printed in "Quicktips" (p.68 Feb 2012 Ed.). Wow! 15 minutes seconds of fame.

We went for a bike ride in the new section. We are improving - went around twice. That's "Speedy" Gonsalez Charlotte on the far side (between the cactii).

We then decided to try our hand at Bocce Ball. We didn't have a clue; but the equipment bag also had a set of instruction.

Several other couples came to play while we were there. We spent about an hour laughing at ourselves trying to play before we could declare a winner. Charlotte's pointing to her score.

I made Spanish Rice Hash for our delayed dinner (about 1;30 pm). Charlotte finished the machine sewing portion of her quilt and is now doing the finishing touches by hand. The skies are clear blue and cloudless again and thankfully, no dust in the air.

The "Junction 87" Band returned for their second engagement this year. They have quite a local following. Half the crowd, which was larger than usual, were folks from outside the park. Many folks took the line dancing lessons which meant the outside of the dance floor was continually in motion. We were graciously invited to sit with a group of folks. One couple from Port Huron, MI had a daughter living in Ottawa, ON.  The world keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Another busy fun day in the Valley of the Sun!
