Woke up to rain on the roof this morning.
We are at the tail end of the major weather front that has brought hundreds of "Twisters" to the Central USA from Texas through to Michigan. With the heavy rain coming down we decided to pass on the outdoor "Cowboy Breakfast" - Chuckwagon Style which I am sure was either cancelled or moved indoors.
Today we headed to Austin, TX a little more than an hour away. This was the last day of the Art Festival in the downtown area. Somehow we managed to find the venue by heading to Austin City Hall which we knew the it was surrounding. Bonus: We ended up parking at (under) City Hall for only $5 which was half the price of lots that were not as close. Double Bonus: The venue was "right there" as we exited the parking garage elevator. Triple Bonus: Somehow, by parking there, we avoided having to pay to enter the venue. (We didn't realize there was a charge until we saw a booth as we were leaving).
The streets, plazas and open spaces were showing art of all kinds. Art City Austin features nationally recognized artists, local food and musicians and kids’ art activities all in a relaxed setting near along the river where the streets are de-activated streets to traffic.
Apparently, Sausage-in-a-Bun w/Sauerkraut is becoming a trend at outdoor events!
Folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. A variety of live music was being performed on a corner stage. A few kids were juggling and doing other types of "stick tricks" just for fun (not money). A Chess match with oversized pieces was under way under the trees while others were turning a "Skipping Rope" for anyone to "Jump In" in the intersection.
All the walking and humidity caught up with us. Chips and dip in the RV for supper and early to bed.
It was another enjoyable day in Texas.
