Sat - Mar 31/12

Many of the Workampers are preparing to leave.

Our neighbours across the road have been giving their RV a top (as you can see) to bottom clean for the last few days. Workampers have an extra 3 day period after they quit working to leave the park. Their always spotless RV is now even more so.

I went to the office and extended our stay until April 12/12. I don't think the turn around time will get the Brake Buddy returned here on time because of the Easter weekend. Hopefully it will arrive before we have to leave on the 12th as two big rallies (177 Prevost and Alfa Motorhomes) will be arriving on that date filling the park.

I emailed Brake Buddy asking them to expedite the process. I also ordered a Wi-Fi booster on-line.

Lunch was half of the half we took home from our lunch at Chen's Bistro yesterday. We will actually get 3 meals out of the $15 (both w/drinks) meal.

After lunch Charlotte took a walk to the Ballroom to check out tonight's event. The ticket just says "Tacky Tourist Farewell Party" - 5 pm. We now know it is a meal followed by a dance. We will just go the way we normally dress - we don't want to offend anyone (as a "Tacky Tourist") by dressing the way they normally are attired.

Today the tables were labelled as tourist sites in keeping with the Tacky Tourist Themes. Our table was Disney World. Chuck, a regular Workamper from Alaska (at least for the 4 years we have been here), was dressed in his "Tacky" best attire as he called the tables. Our trend held up - we were called last!

The meal featured Chicken and Ribs and was excellent. We sat with some folks we had met previously at events and others that were new to the park.

Every event at the park has decorations to match. A "Surfer's Shack" was lit with "Tiki God" lights. A beach chair and umbrella were available for sitting in to take a "Tacky Tourist" picture.

Everything from Tiki Gods to Flamingos to Sea Shells decorated the hall.

There were a lot of great attires - right down to one with the "classic" trailing toilet paper. The Southwest Surfers band fit the "Beach" image. They played surfing sounds mixed with western line dancing favourites. The festivities started at 5 pm (actually 4:30 - remember 15 minutes early is a half hour late in an RV park) and ended at 8:30 pm.

We turned on the "air" (conditioners) when we returned to the RV. The (first) 90 F day heat was still with us and although the "dry heat" was not too taxing the "cool" would make sleeping much easier.
