Wed - Jan 24/18

A normal Wednesday. We went to the MPR (Charlotte) and Lodge (Moi).

There was a full house in the MPR this morning and also in the Lodge. OMS was having a seminar for park volunteers. The Lodge was packed so I returned to the MPR and found a spot at a corner table.

Charlotte was working on her "Carry All".

After reading numerous reviews and viewing several YouTube videos I made my decision on a Dash Cam. I was going to reorder the ThinkWare; however because the Del Sol is a Hardtop/Convertible the cable for a rear camera would not be long enough to route under the carpet and no extensions are available. The Del Sol rear window is also electric and because it goes down I could not mount a camera on it like on the front windshield. For this reason I went with a single rather than a two camera system.

My choice was the Falcon Zero Touch HD Dash Cam. I ordered directly from the company. The main reasons for this choice were:

- 5 year total replacement warranty from a US based firm.
- 30 day return policy (for any reason)
- extremely high satisfaction rating (4.8/5) on thousands of customer reviews
- large (touch) screen (4") compared to the norm (most are less than 3" - many don't have a screen - almost none offer touch screen)
- wide viewing angle - 170 degrees w/6 lens (most are 140-160) and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) and a 3.0 MP CMOS Sensor for clarity. True 1080 HD (some claim; but use software)
- a quick mount bracket allowing to unhook unit without having to unplug anything (Power Pin Technology)
- good night vision
- can unit can be used as a camera taking up to 12 MegaPixel photos
- Plate log if used in multiple vehicles (shows plate of vehicle)
- GPS tracking w/time stamp
- G Sensor for auto accident recording and storage.
- Parking Sensor - turn on/record/turn off if movement is sensed.
- Motion Sensor 24/7 (turns on when senses movement within 30 feet). It has Intelli-Batt Battery Drain Technology to prevent "Killing" the vehicle battery.
- 32 GB Micro SD card included (many only 8 GB and often none) This is a Class 10 UHS1 card - some only include lower class cards.
- HDMI 1.3 output. Plug into any HDMI TV and view videos or pictures without a computer.
- most feature have adjustable settings accessed from touch menu

I hope this is a good choice. It should be here by the weekend.

Charlotte (and everyone else in the MPR) finished up by noon. Charlotte had the list for an upcoming project (Lighthouse) so we returned the Sewing Equipment and Computer to the motorhome. Charlotte checked what project materials she already had and then we were off to find the remaining needed items.

First stop was at the Dollar Tree next to Hobby Lobby in Mt. Dora, FL. The flower pots there were all plastic and not suitable for the Lighthouse project. Charlotte did find a Solar Light that will become the lighthouse light. She walked down the mall to Hobby Lobby while I moved the car.

At Hobby Lobby Charlotte found the remaining items needed except the flower pots. All combinations that they had were missing 1 of the 3 needed to make an inverted stack required to give the lighthouse shape.

That meant our next stop was down US-441 to Lowe's. Finally Charlotte was able to get the Terra Cotta Flower Pots in the sizes needed to make an inverted stack.

Now we were off to JoAnn for the last item Charlotte required. The "Black Binding" at Hobby Lobby was the incorrect width. JoAnn had what Charlotte wanted.

Now it was time for chow. Steak 'n Shake was just a few minutes down US-441. Bonus: Between 2 and 5 (a.m. or p.m.) the milkshakes are half price. We indulged.

We returned to OMS, checked the our park Mailbox (nothing) and returned to the RV by 4 p.m. After all was unloaded I went to the Lodge to use the Wi-Fi for today's blog.

While there, Dick (another regular Wi-Fi user), stopped over to mention that the OMS park computer didn't erase user history. This is not good as hackers could gain access to information entered by all users (from e-Mails to Credit Card info). I told him about NordVPN that is an encrypting service ($3 a month) that protects your identity during all internet traffic. It is usable on your computer(s) or other devices (Cell Phones, iPads, Tablets, etc.). All software is provided.

With nothing else on the agenda the blog will be published early today.
