Tue - Jan 9/18

Just the normal RV morning until it was time to return to Wally's Garage in Tavares, FL at 1 p.m. for our appointment.

The Del Sol was in for an oil change and an A/C checkup. Charlotte and I sat in the office while the work was being completed.

We enjoyed chatting with Linda until Sammy arrived with the keys when the work on the car was done. They always do a first rate job at a reasonable price. I actually wait until I return to Florida to get work done whenever possible as I know it will be done properly. Thank You Wally and Sammy.

The forecast rain, although not heavy, had arrived. Today we would get our exercise indoors by walking store aisles. Our first stop was Hobby Lobby in Mt. Dora, FL. Charlotte picked up a ball of light blue wool for the quilt she is knitting. She also found white velco that she will need for an upcoming project. We also purchased a few other items "...we didn't know we needed."

Our next stop was the Walmart just across the road from Hobby Lobby. We were going there to pick up vacuum cleaner filters for the Dirt Devil that we use for quick pick-ups in the motorhome. Walmart is the only store I know that usually has some of these filters in stock.

During our aisle walking exercises, we found a few more items "...we didn't know we needed."

By now it was almost 5 p.m. and time for supper. Needless to say the "rainy weather" was just the excuse I needed (...like I really need an excuse - grin) to eat out. I had just "the place" in mind and it was only a few minutes down US-441. We have enjoyed eating at this restaurant in the past.

Soon we were parked at Kiku Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar in Eustis, FL.

Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese Cuisine that is cooked over an iron griddle. "Teppan" means iron plate and "Yaki" means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. Modern "Teppanyaki Grills" in restaurants are typically propane-heated flat surface grills that are used to cook food in front of guests that are seated on all three sides.

A waiter serves the first two courses. Soup (Oh! So Tasty) ...followed by a Salad.

Then the Chef arrives. The "Tappanyaki" are predominately Japanese (naturally) and they cook the meals with a flair (flare) of showmanship. First up are the vegetables.

Followed by the rice. The big white squeeze bottles are filled with an "In House"white sauce that we drench the rice with. It is so good! The gentleman in the picture ordered a "Double Rice" just for that purpose. (I would have too if I had known!) I will next visit (if I remember). We always buy a bottle to take with us when we leave (actually, last year we bought 6).

We usually order Filet (Moi) and Lobster (Charlotte); however today the "Special" was a combination of Shrimp, Steak and Chicken, so we "...went for it". The meal was excellent and we were stuffed. The meal was also substantial and what we brought home with us will be tomorrow's lunch.

We arrived back at OMS in time to unpack and watch Jeopardy and Family Feud on TV before I departed for the MPR to do today's blog.
