Fri - Mar 16/12

Early to bed means early (for us) to rise. Up before 8 am.

Our agenda today was to head south as yesterday we went north. We turned off US-60 at the first exit (Goldfield Road). Charlotte likes the family of quail designed onto the overpass sides.

We arrived at the Queen Creek Olive Mill around 10:30. Each year they expand and the crowds do likewise. The expansion makes it much easier to try the many samples available.

The increase room allows for larger areas to choose and grind coffee (beans), find a unique wine or olive oil, sample the olive selections or have a breakfast or lunch.

There is expanded seating areas both inside or out.

After an hour of sampling and picking and choosing we checked out with our purchases and headed for lunch at a different venue.

Joe's Farm Grill has been featured on Diners; Drive-Ins and Dives. It is one of our favourite spots and apparently the same for many others. We have never been here when there was not a line. Today there were  between 60 to 80 ahead of us. The line to order moves steadily. After ordering you receive a beeper and venture out to find a picnic table under the trees (and on grass) on which to eat.

This type of eating was named after the famous Italian - "Al Fresco" (grin). There was such a crowd we took the first available seat inside.

We even took time to "smell the roses orange blossoms" - heavenly!

Less than half an hour later we were back in the park via the Loop 202 and US-60 which is a great ride between rush hours.

Charlotte phoned our best friends back home to wish them a Happy Anniversary - sure wish they could have come down to visit - we miss them dearly when we are away!

Charlotte and I headed back on the US-60 and Loop 202 to see Rodney Carrington at Wild Horse Pass Casino. We left just before 5 pm. Luckily we were going in the "good" direction for rush hour. They other side was solid in all three lanes. Another bit of luck - the I-10 was at a dead stop under the overpass that we were turning off at to get to the Casino. We got off just in time!

We bought the tickets before we knew Catherine was coming. She will enjoy a TV evening in the RV while we are away.

Rodney is a stand-up comedian, actor, and country music artist. He starred in his own TV sitcom Rodney, which ran for two seasons on ABC. He recently co-wrote and co-starred with Toby Keith in the award winning movie "Beer for My Horses". His comedy act combines stand-up comedy and original (adult comedy) songs. He has sold millions of albums and is consistently in the top 10 of the highest grossing (I use the term loosely - grin) stand-up comedians in the country. He has built a "cult" following through his regular exposure on syndicated morning radio shows. I think his fans fit somewhere on the cult ladder below the "rednecks" that follow Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. Most of the crowd knew the words and sang along to his comedy songs that Rodney used to end his show.

We were in for a surprise!  Not being cult members we were not prepared for the finale. Rodney's song song for "World Peace" called "Show Them To Me" contends that nobody feels like fighting when a woman's breasts are in view. Virtually all shows we have been to have a moment to honour America. His Rodney took a slightly different stance on patriotism. "If you love your country....Show Them To Me". Each time he sang the chorus:  "Show Them To Me" some "Boobs" in the audience actually did show theirs --- I didn't know where "not to look"!

On the way back to the RV Park Charlotte and I stopped at the Texas Roadhouse in Gilbert just off the Loop 202 for supper. Their "Dallas Filets" were cooked to perfection and delicious as always!

A quick stop for milk at Basha's across from the park and we were back home by 11 pm.
