Monday - 8 Feb/16

A repeat of yesterday weatherwise with partly sunny skies and mid-60's temps by the afternoon and higher winds.

I was able to get on the internet and finally got long range forecasts for the interstate weather. It looks like it will be good driving from Thursday thru Sunday. We decided to put the motorhome in storage at the park on Thursday, sleep in it there overnight and make an early departure on Friday.
We hope to arrive home late Saturday night with an overnight stop along the way.

We began tying up "loose ends" as we prepared for departure.

Charlotte made an appointment for 2 p.m. at "Sew What" in Umatilla, FL to use their long arm sewing machine to add extra pattern stitching to her T-Shirt Quilt. Made from about 3 dozen T-shirts collected in our travels over the years it is perfect for use in the RV. Charlotte found "Route 66" material for the backing, edge trimming and pillow cases. The "T-Shirt Quilt is now our "Route 66" Quilt.

Although Norlina wasn't wearing a "Super Hero" costume she was "Super Helpful". (grin)

She helped set up the quilt on the Long Arm Sewing Machine.

Norlina then gave Charlotte instructions on using the machine.

Followed by a little supervised training.

Soon Charlotte was sewing away. (She's a quick study) Charlotte even wrote our names and the year in stitching on the quilt.

Charlotte had "Sew Much Fun" (grin) and Norlina was so helpful that we made an appointment for Thursday morning to stitch quilt patterns on Charlotte's "Scrap Quilt" which is made from...aw, you guessed! Scraps!

We always try to support local small businesses when staying in an area and we are always glad we do. Norlina, who also does sewing repairs, served customers who came in for everything from material to ballet slipper repairs. She sewed a button on at no charge for a customer while they he waited. OK - it was a guy - probably a bachelor, eh! (another grin). Norlina's charge for using the machine was more than reasonable.

You don't get this kind of service at the "Big Box" stores.

Charlotte insisted I do a little stitching on the quilt since I helped in it's construction (aided in cutting the T-shirts, driving her to JoAnn's for fabric, helping stretch, fold and pin, etc.) . My part was stitching the Nick's Mobile RV Repair Logo.

In less than two hours the quilt was finished in time to make my 4 p.m. oil change appointment at TiresPlus in Eustis, FL.

I always go to TiresPlus for oil changes when staying in Umatilla, FL. It's only 10 minutes from OMS. Great friendly service, good price (w/online coupon) and in and out in less than a half hour. The Del Sol is now ready for the trip North.

.

Charlotte couldn't wait to get back to the motorhome and place the quilt on the bed to see how it looked. It looked Great!

Monday is a good TV evening with Scorpion and NCIS LA after Jeopardy and Family Feud. We will relax and then continue tomorrow to "Tie Up" a few more "Loose Ends".

A cold front with rain will be coming in tonight; but we will be cozy tonight under our new "Route 66" quilt.
