Sun - 12 Apr/15

100% humidity this morning = fog early, then overcast for most of the day.

Breakfast = Big Texas Cinnamon Rolls (even though we bought them at Sam's Club in Louisiana). We thought there were 6 in the box. Wrong! There were a dozen. Look's like we have tomorrow's breakfast as well.

We decided most of today would be spent relaxing in the RV. As usual, CBS Sunday Morning started the day.

Yesterday Charlotte stayed in the car as I went into H.E.B. to pick up more sodas. I told her how huge it was so today we were going back for a visit. The store, about three times the size of a Costco, has a gigantic selection. The great thing is, unlike a "Club Store", you don't have to buy in large sizes or quantities and there is a wide brand selection of all items. The H.E.B. branded items are really well priced as well.

Due to the large variety we found some "rarities" so Charlotte phoned back to Canada to double check that we were picking up the correct items.

We found what we were looking for and a few other items we didn't know we needed. It took us over an hour just to visit about 75% of the store.

We returned to the RV park about 2 minutes away to unpack before heading out for a late lunch. Our choice was Luigi's in Leander, TX.

We ordered a "Veggie Special": Homemade pizza dough, mushroom, onion, green pepper, sliced tomato, black and green olives to which we added pepperoni and anchovies (on a thin crust). An excellent pizza and they didn't skimp on the toppings. Bill's Rule #52: "If you can order anchovies as a topping you know you will get a good pizza!"

Our waitress, Brooke, gave us great service. She is originally from the Springfield, MA area (Charlotte had relatives living there). Although Brooke had been to the Basketball Hall of Fame several times I don't think she realized the game was invented by a Canadian: Dr. James Naismith. We aren't just hockey! (grin).

Naismith studied physical education at McGill University in Montreal, QC where he went on to be it's first Director of Athletics before moving to the USA. A versatile and gifted athlete, he developed basketball in late 1891 while teaching at the International YMCA Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, MA.

He wrote the first basketball rulebook, founded the  University of Kansas basketball program. Basketball was adopted as an Olympic demonstration sport in 1904 and became official event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. He also gave birth to both the National Invitational Tournament in (1938) and the NCAA Men's Div 1 Basketball Championship (1939).

A little rain as we headed back to the RV. A really active weather system coming up from the Gulf of Mexico is running into a cold front coming down from the north bringing alternating rain and dry periods. There was even sunshine for a bit around 5:30 p.m. Luckily, the severe thunderstorms are to the south and west of us although we may get some through the night.

This was a good day to rest!
