Wow! Coldest day yet - mid-50's F by afternoon.
The walkers today are bundled up and keeping their hands in their pockets. I think they are even walking a little quicker than normal.
Hooray! Charlotte has started making new Bibs! The old ones have seen a lot of use over the years. I tend to "wear my food" so they are really helpful in keeping shirts clean. Charlotte was then off to quilting for 9 a.m. I usually give her a ride there and she walks back. Today she took the car because of the cold temps (36 F) and really strong winds (feels like 26 F).
A number of park residents ride "Trikes". Many are like this.
Some fold.
A few are recumbent,
And one, like this, is a recumbent reverse trike with two seats, a 2.4 litre DOHC engine and 5 speed manual transmission. It is a 2015 Polaris Slingshot SL. Occasionally, I see it pass through the park; otherwise it often resides in his driveway or garage when not cruising the highways. (Owner resides in a Villa, not an RV). Who says old guys can't have fun!
It reminded me of my Myers Manx Dune Buggy (circa 1967-8). I was co-owner of a garage that specialized in VW's before the Japanese auto invasion. The only photo I have is an old B and W polaroid. This picture is close to what mine looked like - back in the day.
While Charlotte is away, Bill will
Next up - time to vacuum. Not a lot of carpet in the RV. I replaced most of it with bamboo flooring which is easier to clean. There are many varieties of bamboo. The type used in flooring is actually much harder than oak. Vacuuming was followed by a spritzing with Fabreze.
Charlotte arrived back from crafts a little after 11 a.m. We decided to head to the Farmer's Market at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Eustis, only a few minutes away. Usually there is a line just to get into the parking area. Today, probably due to the cold spell, it was even easy to find a parking spot.
There is a mix of inside and outside vendors. Charlotte found a small basket she was interested in purchasing in the main building. Outside we found a few more items to purchase.
Our second mission was to go to Hobby Lobby in Mt. Dora. Charlotte was armed with a list of materials for upcoming projects from this morning's craft session. Once the mission was accomplished we headed back to the RV.
Our afternoon movie today was "J. Edgar" starring Leonardo Di Caprio. This is an interesting take on the like of J. Edgar Hoover, appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation—predecessor to the FBI—in 1924, he was instrumental in founding the FBI in 1935, where he remained director until his death in 1972 at age 77. Hoover is credited with building the FBI into a larger crime-fighting agency, and with instituting a number of modernizations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprinting file and forensic laboratories.
Just a nice, quiet, slow paced movie. Good if you like history (or need a sleep).
We had thought of going to see a first run movie at the theatre; however going out in the cold didn't seem like a good idea.
Jeopardy and TV in is on the agenda for the rest of the night.
