Thu - 15 Jan/15

This is currently not the Sunshine State. Today is cooler and overcast like it has been for the past several days. Tomorrow the sunshine is supposed to return.

I drove Charlotte to quilting. I was going to wash the car. It was just too cold. Instead I helped Charlotte with carrying in and setting up her sewing machine. Like Baa-Baa Black Sheep she had 3 bags full! Some of the sewing ladies have way more. The back of their SUV's are full.

Today's project was making pillowcases for our grandson Martin.

They will be done in "Duck Dynasty" and "Camo" (camouflage) prints. He may want to use them this summer in his 3 story tree house located on his parent's RV Storage Lot that they are developing near their home.

On quilting days there are usually about a dozen ladies in attendance. There is a steady hum (both sewing machines and human). All are willing to help others and share ideas. Jean was showing a neat quilt she had just recently finished.

Charlotte finished one of the pillowcases. (Duck Dynasty) She stayed a little longer today so she could cut out the material for the second (Camo) pillowcase.

Just a slow steady rain all afternoon. This gave Charlotte the chance to finish the aprons by sewing on the velco fasteners. She followed this up by finishing the second pillowcase.

Tonight the entertainment in the main clubhouse is "Spittin' Image". We had seen Brian and Blain Swabb perform last year. The twins play a variety of song styles, from country to classic rock, with a little bluegrass and jazz thrown into the mix. The twins are a comedy and singing duo that are so in tune with each other that they really are a "Spittin' Image" of each other. Having played together for over 40 years makes them more "In Sync" than 'N SYNC.

This was a major event so Rule 24 applied: "At an RV Park Major Event; being there an hour early means you are already a half hour late." We arrived an hour early and it was more than half full. Ten minutes later the clubhouse was packed to capacity. I estimate a crowd of over 300 attended tonight.

In addition to being excellent musicians the duo were also talented comedians. They involved the audience on a number of occasions. At one point, Gary and Gary became Elvis Impersonators with hilarious results.

Pearl (she is really a gem), a park fixture (everyone knows Pearl), was teased a number of times to the delight of all.

The humour about being identical twins reminded me of my cousins; who, at one time in High School went out with sisters who were also identical twins. At times they would all dress alike (no the guys didn't wear dresses - grin). The boys dressed the same, as did the girls. They would appear as a couple just moments apart. This well planned timing certainly got a lot of "double takes". I also believe, on occasion, they assumed each others persona without anyone being aware, (How did they ever keep a straight face?)

It was still raining lightly on the walk back to the RV. It will do so through the night. We arrived in time to catch the end of  the World Dog Awards - Woof!

The rhythm of the rain on the roof will put me to sleep quickly tonight.
