Tue - 22 Apr/14

Departed at 9:30 am (avoids traffic and school buses). Good travelling with clear skies.

Stopped at the Flying J in Brunswick, GA to fill-up. Charlotte picked up a coffee and Honey Buns.

We arrived at Lake Aire RV Park in Hollywood, SC about 3:30 pm. Set up the RV and disconnected the Del Sol. We took showers and changed clothes. We took the top off the car and headed downtown to the Historic Charleston City Market in Charleston, SC. It was just an easy 15 minute drive to downtown Charleston.

Parking is very limited on the street (and always taken). Parking lots also very full and expensive. $2 - first half - $2 per every 20 minutes after that.

We wanted some "Low Country Cooking". We chose the Lowcountry Bistro. We ate on the balcony which was nice.

Our meal:

Fried Green Tomatoes: white cheddar and country ham grits, sweet pepper and onion relish, herb aioli. Tasty!

Chicken and Waffles: sweet potato bacon corn bread waffle, crispy half bone-in chicken, pecan butter, bourbon reduction - Really Tasty!

Our waiter filled us in on the Chicken and Waffles protocol. Spread the pecan butter on the waffles; take a piece of chicken, join with a piece of waffle and dunk in the bourbon reduction (the Maple Syrup of the South).

The market was closed by the time we got there. Things are a little laid back in Charleston (not quite as much as Savannah, GA) - The market runs from 9-5 every day; however, it doesn't really get going until 10 am. The sky was also threatening rain as we returned to the car.

It was starting to rain just as we left so the top stayed on the Del Sol.

It took a little longer to get back to the park (accident slowed traffic).

In bed early tonight.

(Note: the blog was delayed - couldn't get on the internet until later this morning (Wed).
