Friday - 11 Mar/16
Did it again. We both slept in. Charlotte was up before I was. Her voice has returned to being hoarse and her nose is running again. I'm just tired. I rolled over after 8 and fell back asleep, then after 9, and after 10 and I finally got up after 11 a.m.
A check on the package tracker program on the internet indicated that my surprise order for Charlotte had arrived at the park this morning at 10:30. I sent her over to the office to pick it up. The book is huge - over 1000 pages. Charlotte enjoys watching America's Test Kitchen on TV and I am sure she will enjoy this quality cookbook.
We are still enjoying the benefits of the huge high pressure area over Florida. It has been deflecting the moisture from the Gulf of Mexico keeping us dry and in the high 80's F. An area in New Orleans has had over 20" of rain in the last 36 hours. Glad it missed us.
Tom (of the Tom and Chris we sat with at the Cahal Dunne show last night) stopped by on his bike with a treat. He brought a bag of mushrooms from the local market and huge fresh muffins that were beyond good! (Tim Hortons - Eat Your Heart Out!) That certainly solved our "What's For Dinner" problem. The muffins were so tasty!
Then Tom was off on his bike (probably to check today's mail at the Park Post Office.
Charlotte spent the afternoon measuring, cutting and ironing material for an upcoming craft project (wallets).
Then it was time for a movie from our collection. First up: "Mr. Holmes".
The story is set in 1947, an aged, retired Sherlock Holmes, deals with early dementia, as he tries to remember his final case and a woman, the memory of whom still haunts him. He also befriends a fan, the young son of his housekeeper, who wants him to work again. It was a nice quiet movie; most enjoyable.
Next up: "In The Still of the Night". A quiet thriller with great acting from Meryl Streep. It takes a slightly different route with the paranoid performance from Roy Schnieder as a psychiatrist. It is a good film which I'm sure has influenced many others of this genre.
The second movie did it's duty and Charlotte had a nap. We she woke I started it at the point she fell asleep so she could see the ending.
After Jeopardy we watched the PBS special with the Carpenters. Their relaxing music was enough to put the TV on timer and call it a night.
