Sunday - 6 Dec/15

The only thing we did today was work on installing the "Pull-Out Pantry".

Installations like this are usually done during initial RV construction as the RV is built around the major features. Trying to work in an extremely small space that was about 2 feet deep, 6 feet high and 9.5 inches wide meant I had to "MacGyver" a number of things to be able to make it work.

The word "MacGyver" is now in the Oxford Dictionaries.

There aren't many action-adventure TV shows that make it into the dictionary, but MacGyver was not your typical show. It ran from 1987 to 1992 and starred Richard Dean Anderson. MacGyver (first name: Angus)  escaped life-threatening situations without the use of firearms or martial arts. Instead he improvised solutions using his engineering skills to cobble together devices that ingeniously won the day.

We worked steadily and 10 hours later were able to clear 4 overhead cupboards of  cans and boxes and place them in a single location. It was well worth the effort.

Tomorrow I will have to "MacGyver" one additional task. I will need to figure out a way to attach a front panel to the Pull Out Pantry. The unit was made to be hidden behind a cupboard door. I want to eliminate the need to open a door before pulling out the pantry so I can  pull it out in a single motion yet have it remain securely closed while the Motorhome is moving down the road.

Charlotte was a fantastic help all day long. I couldn't have done it without her. Needless to say, we won't have to be "rocked to sleep" tonight!
